Carmine Infantino was born on May 24, 1925 in Brooklyn. He was an American comic artist in the late 1960s. Also, the former editorial of DC Comics. He started his career in comic when he was in high school . At the age 19, he attended the Art students League and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. During his time there, he contributes to Fawcett Comic and Holyoke Publishing before he started to work for the DC comics. His first work began in 1947 which was the “Johnny Thunder” story for Flash. Additionally, he created the “Black Canary” but his work was primarily known on The Flash.
In 1936, Julie Schwartz asked Infantino to revamp and revive the superheroes of DC. He worked on resurrecting Barry Allen The Flash which was created in the 1940s. The Flash wore a new bright red costume that flares out a strip of black and white film.The Flash’s suit give Flash its’ power and make him look speedy. In 1964, Infantino also to revamp Batman. Infantino’s new creation of Batman give a sleek and athletic look. He added a yellow oval around the Bat-emblem on the chest of the costume. His new creation of the costume characterized the look and feel of DC’s Sliver Age.
In 1966, Infantino was in charge of creating the cover image of the DC comics. For example, "Flash of Two Worlds" is one of his most famous covers and the most recognizable cover in DC. This cover introduced the concept of multiverse. In this cover, he illustrated 2 "Flash" from different time dimensions saving a man. Even though the cover was quite simple, it open the door to the infinite in superheros comics. In 1967, He became the DC art director and the editorial director.
